Yearly Engagements: Fostering Community Growth and Enrichment

At the Deka Lake and District Ratepayers Association (DLDRA), we are dedicated to enhancing the vitality of our community through a range of annual commitments. These initiatives reflect our unwavering commitment to promoting a flourishing environment for residents and visitors alike. Here are some of the significant yearly engagements we undertake:

  • Informative Newsletter: We take pride in producing and distributing our comprehensive newsletter three times a year. This informative publication serves as a valuable resource, keeping our community well-informed about pertinent updates, upcoming events, and relevant issues that impact our area.

  • Barbeque - Deka Lake Summer Fishing Derby: In celebration of the annual Deka Lake Summer Fishing Derby, we host a vibrant barbeque event. This lively gathering provides an opportunity for participants to enjoy delectable food, socialize, and revel in the festive atmosphere, forging lasting connections within our community.

  • Deka Channel Marker Buoys: Since 1998, we have taken on the responsibility of installing, removing, and repairing the Deka Channel Marker Buoys. These essential navigational aids ensure the safety and ease of watercraft navigation in our area, contributing to a seamless boating experience.

  • Designated Swimming Areas Buoys: We also dedicate ourselves to installing, removing, and maintaining buoys in designated swimming areas. By doing so, we create safe and enjoyable swimming spots for our community members and visitors to relish.

  • Portable & Permanent Restrooms: Recognizing the importance of convenient facilities, we provide and maintain portable and permanent restrooms on Deka, Sulphurous, and Higgins lakes. This ensures that everyone can enjoy our beautiful lakes while maintaining sanitation and hygiene.

  • Community Information Boards: We take pride in maintaining community information boards throughout our area. These boards serve as centralized hubs for sharing important notices, local events, and community updates, fostering communication and cohesion among our residents.

  • Accesses and Boat Launches: Our largest projects have been redoing all the accesses and boat launches on our four lakes. Maintaining them and keeping them clean and safe is our biggest priority. This work is ongoing with the help of our many volunteers.

  • Support for Community Infrastructure Projects: We actively support and contribute to community infrastructure projects that enhance the overall well-being of our area. By investing in and improving vital infrastructural elements, we aim to create an environment that residents can thrive in.

  • Liaison with Fisheries during the Stocking Process: We establish a vital connection with fisheries authorities, acting as liaisons during the stocking process. By collaborating closely, we ensure the preservation and sustainability of our aquatic resources, fostering a thriving ecosystem for both recreational and ecological purposes.

  • Recycling: The Deka Lake and District Rate Payers Association champions recycling to keep our community clean and support local projects. It's a vital part of our commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being.
